Upcoming Construction Activities
Beginning this week (April 21) crews will be clearing, removing asphalt, excavating, placing new material, grading and compacting in the shoulders between I-215 an 2600 South at night. Area residents may experience an increase in light, noise, and vehicle activity associated with this work.
Northbound I-15 between I-215 and 500 South and Southbound I-15 between 2600 South and 500 South have been shifted to the center. Crews will continue to restripe the remaining sections of I-15 between North Salt Lake and Farmington, shifting traffic to a new traffic configuration. I-15 will be restricted to one lane in each direction during the shift. Traffic shifts are currently scheduled to occur as follows:
The night of April 25: northbound I-15 between 500 South and Parrish Lane from 10:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m.
The night of May 1: southbound I-15 between Parrish Lane and 500 West from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
The night of May 9: northbound I-15 between State Street and 200 West from 10:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m.
Travel lanes will be narrowed to 11′ and lanes will follow new patterns as shown in the graphic below.
In mid-May, crews will demolish portions of the I-15 bridge over 1500 South in preparation for new bridge construction. 1500 South will be closed in both directions during demolition. This work will occur at night. More information will be provided as schedules are confirmed.
The week of May 5, crews will re-stripe 500 South under I-15, narrowing lanes and shifting traffic to the north to accommodate work on the south side of the bridge. Pedestrian access will be maintained. Please follow pedestrian signage. This new traffic configuration will remain in place through project completion. Early construction activities in this area will occur during the day.
